The new V-Class: The successful model even more attractive
In 2014, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class celebrated its premiere with a completely new claim to design, value, comfort and safety in the large-capacity sedan segment. The success confirmed the concept: This is reflected in around 209,000 V Classes sold since its market launch in 2014, a sales record in 2018 with around 64,000 units, one of the youngest buyer groups at Mercedes-Benz and the successful opening up of new markets - above all in Asia. Another market for the V-Class, India, was recently added at the beginning of 2019. Model maintenance is now providing a boost to the successful model. The focus is on a revised, striking front design, the introduction of the four-cylinder diesel of the OM 654 engine generation - as the V 300 d with a new peak value of 176 kW (239 hp) (fuel consumption combined 6.3-5.9 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined 165-154 g/km)1 - the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, which is available for the first time, and state-of-the-art safety and assistance systems, including Active Brake Assist. The new V-Class can be ordered in Europe from March 2019. In Germany it starts from 36,990 Euro (including 19 percent VAT). In addition, Mercedes-Benz Vans is consistently pursuing its eDrive@VANs electrification strategy and will be offering a fully electric large-capacity saloon in the near future.
New design and even more comfort
The V-Class's style and value appeal are groundbreaking in the large-capacity saloon segment. With targeted measures, the Stuttgart designers have given the V-Class a new look along the lines of the design language of the current Mercedes-Benz passenger car models. Thanks to the new front end, the new V-Class has a greater width effect and an even stronger visual presence. This is ensured by a newly designed bumper with a striking cooling air intake and a new diamond structure in the radiator grille. The Mercedes star is located centrally in the radiator grille and surrounded by two silver slats. The individualisation concept with the attractive AVANTGARDE and EXCLUSIVE lines remains the same, while the AMG Line stands out more visually with its model upgrades: It is fitted with a new diamond grille with chrome pins, thus setting a sporty exclamation mark.
New lacquer colours in metallic graphite grey and metallic selenite grey extend the spectrum of the popular black/white shades. The steel blue lacquer colour is also available as a new option. With the new Hyacinth Red metallic paint, the new V-Class also makes a particularly emotional statement on request. At the same time, four new light-alloy wheel designs ensure a striking and avant-garde appearance. There is a choice of 17-inch light-alloy wheels in black lacquered and bright-turned 5-twin-spoke design and 18-inch light-alloy wheels in tremolite grey, bright-turned 5-twin-spoke design or in black, bright-turned 5-spoke design. The new rim portfolio is rounded off at the top with black-painted and bright-turned 19-inch alloy wheels in 10-spoke design.
The interior designers have also lent a hand and transferred the interior design philosophy of the current Mercedes-Benz passenger car models to the new V-Class. The interior of the new V-Class follows the trend towards modernity and clarity. For example, the V-Class features model upgrades with new ventilation nozzles in a sporty turbine look and a new dial in the instrument cluster. Thanks to the reduced illustrations, the driver's orientation is much more pronounced. The new upholstery and equipment colour Nappa Tartufo leather makes a modern and elegant statement. With Lugano leather and Nappa leather, each in black and silk beige, and Santos black fabric, a total of six upholsteries in light and dark shades are available. Modern and elegant is also a new decorative element in a double-stripe look on the instrument panel and in the side panels. The decorative elements in the piano lacquer, ebony, carbon and brushed aluminium finishes remain unchanged.
The rear passengers can enjoy special comfort with the model upgrades. As in the S-Class, the optionally available luxury seats for the first row of seats pamper passengers with reclining function, back massage and air conditioning. The ride in the new V-Class, for example as a VIP shuttle, becomes a wellness experience after a stressful flight or business appointment.
